Vivienne Westwood

Vivienne Westwood Mabel Gown

Known for her unconventional designs and punk rock edge, Vivienne Westwood creates wedding gowns for the bride who craves something different. From dramatic silhouettes to classic corsetry to Chantilly lace capes, Westwood's bridal designs are at once romantic and avant-garde. For some brides-to-be who opt for a glimmering Westwood gown, it was the late designer’s unparalleled ability to flatter the female form that riveted their attention. Westwood understood women’s bodies, their contours and curves, channelling sensuality and sexiness not through fragility, but structure and power. For others, it was her signature subversive aesthetic that resonated when scheming out that special day rooted, so profoundly, in tradition.

The rounded regal neckline of the Mabel sweeps elegantly across the shoulders, over a classic corset silhouette that cinches at the waist. The style marries elements of the popular Nova Cocotte and Cora Cocotte gowns, with the bodice echoing the neckline shape of both styles. The gown features a delicately draped skirt, complete with a cascading train, lending the style an air of opulence. The design is finished with a sultry side-slit, creating an elongated figure. The Mabel is offered in a pearl white heavy silk satin, or in an opaline silk cady.
